Is VietDoc the same as Direct Primary Care?

VietDoc shares many benefits of Direct Primary Care, including a simple monthly membership, easier access, and more time with your doctor. But VietDoc is designed to be flexible.  As the practice grows, additional insurance options may also become available. The goal isn't to fit into one type of healthcare model - It's to find the best way to care for you.

What does the monthly membership include?

Your membership gives you ongoing access to your primary care doctor - not just a single visit. If you need 2 or 3 visits in the same month, that's okay.  Your monthly membership stays the same - there is no additional charge for each visit. Your membership includes:Office and virtual visits when you need themDirect messaging with your doctorMore time to discuss your health and concernsOngoing care for conditions like diabetes and high blood pressureFollow-up after visits, labs, or medication changesHelp coordinating specialists, testing, and other care when needed. The goal is simple: fewer barriers between you and your doctor, so we can take care of problems early and help you stay healthy.

What do you mean by "Direct access to your doctor"?

It means fewer barriers between you and your doctor.Instead of calling an office, leaving a message, and waiting for someone to call you back, you can message me directly with questions or concerns. Sometimes you may just need a quick answer.  Other times, we may decide you need a virtual or in-person visit.The goal is simple: make it easier to reach your doctor when you need help.

Why would I need multiple visits?

Can you give me some examples of why I might need multiple visits?

Absolutely.  Many health goals take more than one visit.  Regular follow-up lets us see what is working and make changes sooner when needed. For example:High blood pressure: We may start a medication today and follow up in about 2-4 weeks to review your blood pressure.  If it's still high, we can adjust your treatment instead of waiting months. Diabetes: We may start or change a medication, check in within a few weeks, and adjust your treatment as needed depending on how your blood sugars have been.Weight loss: We can set a goal together and check in every few weeks or months to review your progress, discuss what's working, and adjust your plan or medication if needed. New medications: Depending on the medication, we may follow up within days or weeks to make sure it's working and you're not having side effects.New health concerns: Sometimes the best plan is to start treatment and check back soon to see if you're improving rather than waiting until the problem gets worse. More frequent follow-up doesn't mean more care than you need.  It means we can make adjustments when they matter and help you reach your health goals faster.

Why would I pay a monthly membership for healthcare?

That's a fair question - especially if you've never experienced this type of care before. We already pay monthly for things that give us access when we need them - our phone, internet, streaming services, gym memberships, and more. VietDoc applies a similar idea to something even more important: your health. Your membership isn't just paying for doctor visits.  It's paying for easier access to a doctor who knows you, more time when you need care, ongoing follow-up, and the ability to ask for help before a small problem becomes a bigger one. You may not need your doctor every month - and that's a good thing. The goal isn't to get you to use more healthcare.  It's to make sure good healthcare is easy to reach when you need it and to help you stay healthy so you need it less.

Do I need insurance?

No - you don't need insurance to see me. My goal is simple: To help you stay healthy and take care of your everyday medical needs. However, life can be unpredictable.  You may someday need expensive care outside of VietDoc, such as:Emergency or hospital careSurgerySpecialist careExpensive testing or treatmentThat's why I still recommend having health insurance when possible - VietDoc can help with your everyday care, while insurance can help protect you from the unexpected.

Are there any costs outside of my monthly membership?

Your VietDoc membership covers your visits and access to your doctor, but some services outside of VietDoc have their own costs.These may include:LabsX-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, or MRIs MedicationsSpecialist careHospital or emergency careThe good news: your membership gives you access to discounted cash-pay options for many labs and imaging services, which can sometimes cost less than using insurance.

What if I suddenly get sick?

Is VietDoc right for me?

VietDoc may be a great fit if you:Want easier access to your doctorWant more time to discuss your healthWant regular follow-up instead of waiting months between visitsWant help reaching goals like better blood pressure, diabetes control, or weight lossPrefer a simple, predictable monthly cost for your primary careVietDoc can be especially helpful if you have a high-deductible insurance plan.  You may already be paying out of pocket for many of your medical expenses until your deductible is met. Don't have insurance?  You can still become a VietDoc member and receive primary care at a predictable monthly cost.  I still recommend having insurance when possible for emergencies, hospital care, and other major medical expenses. And if you're generally healthy, that's okay too.You don't have to be sick to benefit from having a doctor who knows you, is easier to reach, and can help you stay healthy.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes.  There are no long-term contracts, and you can cancel your membership at any time. My goal is simple:I want you to get the best care for you - even if that's not with me. If at any point you need a specialist, a different level of care, or another option is better for your situation, I'll help guide you in the right direction. You're never locked in.  Your health comes first.

Where are you located?

VietDoc is based in Wichita, Kansas, and I provide care to patients across Kansas. Most care can be provided virtually, so you can meet with me from the comfort of your home.  When an in-person visit is needed - for certain exams, procedures, or other concerns - we can arrange an in-person appointment at the Wichita clinic. This gives you the convenience of virtual care with the option for in-person care when you need it.

Are you currently accepting insurance?

Not yet. VietDoc is currently starting with a simple monthly membership, so you can receive primary care without having to use insurance for your visits with me. However, we are working toward accepting insurance in the future to give our patients more options. As VietDoc grows, my goal is to make care as flexible and accessible as possible.

Question 16

Do you currently accept Medicare patients for the membership?

Not at this time. Medicare has specific rules about membership-based medical care and how Medicare-covered services can be provided and charged. Because VietDoc is not currently set up to bill Medicare, I am not accepting Medicare patients into the membership at this time. I hope to offer an option for Medicare patients in the future as VietDoc grows. If you have Medicare and are interested in VietDoc, please contact us and we can keep you updated as options become available.

Does my VietDoc membership give me access to lower-cost labs and imaging?

Yes.  One of the benefits of your VietDoc membership is access to discounted cash-pay options for labs and imaging. For example, current discounted lab prices available through our lab partner includes: Hemoglobin A1C (Diabetes): around $4Basic Metabolic Panel:  around $3TSH (Thyroid test):  around $3Lipid Panel (cholesterol): around $6For imaging, current discounted imaging includes: X-ray from $40MRI from $300These prices can sometimes be less than what you would pay using insurance, especially if you have a high-deductible health plan. You can always choose to use your insurance when it makes more sense. My goal is not to make you use cash or insurance - it's to help you find the best and most affordable option for your care.Prices shown are examples based on discounted cash pricing and are subject to change.  Additional fees may apply depending on the test, facility, or service.
